The Accident Repair Centre Vehicle Transport Driver is responsible for the safe and professional transportation of all makes and models of vehicles—including prestige and high-value cars between dealerships, and customer locations. This role involves towing an enclosed transport trailer and operating a 7.5-tonne recovery lorry to recover and deliver vehicles with the utmost care. The driver will regularly meet customers on-site and provide excellent customer service, in addition to carrying out general housekeeping duties around the repair centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Transport & Recovery
• Safely tow and manoeuvre an enclosed transport trailer carrying a wide range of vehicles, including prestige and luxury cars.
• Operate a 7.5-tonne recovery lorry to recover broken down, accident-damaged, or immobilised vehicles from accident scenes or customer locations.
• Load and unload vehicles securely on trailers and recovery lorries, using appropriate equipment such as winches, ramps, and securing straps, with special care for high-value vehicles.
• Conduct thorough pre-transport inspections to identify and report any existing damage.
• Deliver vehicles to designated locations including repair centres, storage yards, dealerships, or customer addresses.
• Ensure timely and accurate collection and delivery of vehicles, adhering to scheduled appointments.
Customer Interaction
• Meet and liaise with customers daily, providing a professional and courteous service.
• Communicate clearly with customers regarding vehicle collection, delivery times, and any delays.
• Address customer queries or concerns with empathy and professionalism.
• Act as a positive representative of the accident repair centre to enhance customer satisfaction.
Compliance & Safety
• Adhere strictly to all legal and company policies regarding road safety, transport regulations, and vehicle recovery procedures.
• Conduct daily vehicle safety checks on the recovery lorry and trailer before use and report any faults.
• Maintain all safety equipment and ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
• Ensure all vehicles transported, especially prestige cars, are handled with extreme care to avoid damage.
Housekeeping & Site Duties
• Carry out general housekeeping duties around the repair centre site to maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment.
• Assist with the upkeep of vehicles, equipment, and storage areas.
• Dispose of waste materials appropriately and comply with site environmental policies.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Valid full UK driving licence with category C1 entitlement (for 7.5-tonne lorry).
• Experience towing enclosed trailers and operating recovery vehicles.
• Ability and care in handling all vehicle types, especially prestige and high-value cars.
• Strong customer service skills with experience meeting and communicating with customers professionally.
• Good knowledge of vehicle securing methods, health and safety standards, and transport laws.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks safely.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high standard of work.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Clean driving record and willingness to undergo background and security checks.
Working Conditions:
• Physical role involving loading/unloading vehicles and site housekeeping tasks.
• Driving and recovery work in all weather conditions.
• Daily interaction with customers on-site.
• Use of company vehicles and equipment.
• Possible flexible or varied working hours depending on recovery demands.
